Samardo signs with New Brindisi (Italy)

The New Basket Brindisi announces that it has reached an agreement until the end of the 2016/17 season with the pivot Samardo Anthony Samuels, born January 9, 1989 in Trelawny in Jamaica.

The 6′ 9″ center, played last season in China in the Jiangsu Dragons wearing during his glorious career vests Olympia Milano and Barcelona in Europe and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA.

In the experience in the East he has racked up 22 appearances at an average playing time of 29.3 minutes and 20.2 points and 7.5 rebounds. Samuels’ last season they won the Spanish Super Cup with the Blaugrana, stopping just short of the Euroleague Final Four in 2016.

Two seasons in Olympia for him, the first ended with the conquest of the shield and the second sealed by career-high 36 points and a jump to number 47 on the Euroleague player ratings.

He moved to 14 years in the United States with a scholarship for Our Savior New American School, Samardo lands in NCAA with Louisville under Rick Pitino guide, where in two seasons improved significantly up to close to the average of 15.3 points, 7 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.

In 2010 it declared eligible for the NBA draft where he went undrafted. Due to strong performance in the Summer League for the Chicago Bulls, Samardo signed a three year contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. More than 100 games under his NBA belt. One game stands out, he went for a career-high 23 points against the San Antonio Spurs Tim Duncan of his favorite player. In January 2013 he was released by the Cavs, ending the season first in the D-League Reno Bighorns and then from April to Hapoel Jerusalem.
