Mavisville Preparatory emerged winners of the prep schools division of the Southern Conference mini basketball tournament held at the Breezy Castle courts. Mavisville went unbeaten winning all five games in their division.
Emanuel Christian Academy who won four of their five games, where runner up.
Defending and many times champions Holy Family primary “A” team won the primary schools division defeating Holy Family “B” 18-2 in the primary division after both teams had won their respective zones in the preliminary round.
The tournament was played in a round-robin format in the prep schools division with the schools accumulating the most wins declared the winner. In the primary division the teams were divided in two zones with the winners of each zone meeting in the finals.

Kingston, Jamaica — President of the Jamaica Basketball Association (JaBA), Dr Mark Broomfield, is reassuring basketball fans that the National Basketball League (NBL) competition will take place this year.
The NBL, which is the island’s premier basketball tournament, was last held in 2012 under former president Ajani Williams. However, since then, JaBA has struggled to secure a sponsor for the competition.
However, Broomfield, who took over as president from Williams in 2015, said the NBL would go ahead this year, regardless of sponsorship.
The JaBA boss added that his association is hoping to the start the league in October.

Kingston, Jamaica – Opening night of the inaugural JamRockerz Classics saw the visiting Libertyville Vipers come from behind to topple our surging young Under 21 stars in a race to wire.
With home court advantage in their favor and up-tempo crowd cheering them on the U21 jumped to a 8 point lead (16-8) at the end of the 1st quarter and by half-time they increased the lead to 10 (38-28).
The third quarter saw the U21 widening the gap between themselves and their visitors compliments of some solid defense and offensive execution. At the end they held a commanding 60-43 lead.
